PL2021 - Week 13 | Sahlin Studio

Here's week 13 of my project life album.

I changed some photos to black and white, too many contrasting colours. Which didn't go well with the cookie photo. And let's face it, everyone wants a good look at iced cookies.

I'm loving the new photo album format. I'm really happy with how this album is coming together.

  • A year later, and trip to the thrift store.
  • Madelyn has perfected her loft house cookies.
  • Robins Eggs. Enough said. It's a good thing we can only get them once a year.
  • Miss Libby. My whole heart.
  • Another easter alone, as a 4-some. Trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

PL2021 - Week 12 | Sahlin Studio

Last year I had my first pandemic birthday.

This year I had my 2nd...

The difference between this year and last year, this year we went out for dinner to a restaurant. So lucky because about 10 days after my birthday, Alberta went back to Stage 1 restrictions, meaning restaurants were once again closed to sit down dining.

We also went over to A&B's for birthday cake. We don't blow out candles on a birthday cake anymore. But I held my own little candle while I was sung to.

Things are still not the same, I'm not sure when they will be. Maybe never. Still grateful for my crew.

  • A few candids photos at the restaurant [thanks for taking them Barry]
  • A family selfie, my birthday request.
  • Singing happy birthday to me with my lone little candle.
  • Asked Mason to take a photo, and then always get a bunch of selfies on my camera roll.
  • Spring break started as did the quest for a furze [which was successfully tackled]

Tranquil Collection | Sahin Designs

Feeling slightly overwhelmed as once again Covid numbers sky rocket. This time, due to the variant/s. This has led the Alberta government to go back to Stage 1 restrictions. Not a really huge deal for me, I've barely done anything in the past year.

I used April's creative gallery, to share where my heart is currently at.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who is feeling rather down right now.

Last week Madelyn received her first quarantine notice. As per AHS guidelines, she was to stay isolated in her bedroom. She had her test, which thankfully came back as negative.  It was a hard week for her and for us. There have been tears. Shed by both of us. Once she had a negative result, we let her out of her room. [Ironic that when she has to stay in her room, she's miserable, but when she can roam the house freely, she'd rather be in her room] She would have been able to go back to school starting Wednesday.

However, starting today, all CBE students, grades 7 - 12 are going back to on-line learning, for at least the next two weeks. The bright side of this being, now everyone is on-line. Not just her.

I would have never, in a million years, thought we'd be in the same situation a year after it began. 15% of Canadians have received their first dose of the vaccine as of April 3rd. What's the number of fully vaccinated Canadians? Who knows. We seem to be the country that's fine with stretching the 2nd vaccine, in order to vaccinate more people... Going 16 weeks between doses...

So there's where I'm at right now.

And here's my layout accordingly.

I'm doing my best, to remain positive while we head into the 3rd wave of the pandemic. The truth of the matter is, this is hard. There seems to be no end in sight.

PM [POP] Artsy, Pins & Alphas | Sahlin Studio

Sahlin Studio has some great add ons that coordinate with her recently released PM Pop collection

Project Mouse (POP): Artsy by Britt-ish Designs and Sahlin Studio - Perfect for documenting your Disney Project Mouse and Project Life albums!!  Project Mouse (POP): Pins by Britt-ish Designs and Sahlin Studio - Perfect for documenting your Disney Project Mouse and Project Life albums!!  Project Mouse (POP): Alpha by Britt-ish Designs and Sahlin Studio - Perfect for documenting your Disney Project Mouse and Project Life albums!!

As an adult, I made it to Disney World, shortly after we were married. Then a number of years later to Disneyland, when the kids were little.

Oh how I/we long to get back there. We've attempted to plan another family trip several times, but the stars just haven't aligned properly. So I jut have to keep going back to photos of our last trip, in 2011.

When we took the kids to Disneyland, we pulled them both out of school for a week at the end of September. At the time they were in grades 1 and 4. We arrived in Anaheim early on a Sunday afternoon. We'd repurchased park passes, but I hadn't expected to go to the park that day. However, four tear rimmed eyes were looking at me, so away we went.

I'm so glad we did. As it turns out, in off-season, they don't do fireworks every night. We happened to catch the Fantasmic show and fireworks, strictly by chance. To see the park lit up at night, is so cool. I'm so glad we went for it, or we would have missed out seeing this.

I honestly love Disney so much. I hope we're able to get back sometime soon. It would be so much fun to experience it with our kids as young adults. I trust no one would need to be carried this time around. Nor would they fall asleep at the restaurant waiting for supper to arrive. Looking back, they were ages 6 & 9, they must have been exhausted. We went hard for a 6 days. It was awesome.

Project Mouse (Pop) PL2021 - Week 8 | Sahlin Studio

[I just found this post in my drafts... Oopsie, I'm afraid I forgot to publish this until now.]

This past weekend Sahlin Studio released a brand new Project Mouse collaboration called Pop.

So many fun vibrant colours.

Though many of the project mouse kits are geared for Disneyland, I like that they don't have to be used for that purpose alone.

I don't have any recent Disney photos, though I wish I did. Disneyland in California has been closed for a year now, due to Coronavirus.  A year... It's set to open back up again in April of this year.

I like show how versatile some of these themed collations can be. Here is week 8 of my project life ablest using this collection:

  • A certain someone got her official learner's license in the mail.
  • Miss Libs, before and after. We like her both ways.
  • Exciting mail day.
  • Baba working on our cupboards.

PL2021 - Week 11 | Sahlin Studio

Taking things one day at a time. Lots of deep breathing, in and out.

It was announced yesterday, that the CBE board will be moving kids to on-line learning starting on Monday. [Sigh...] Madelyn has been home this week already, her first Covid quarantine after a kid in one of her classes tested positive for the virus.

She needed to go for Covid test, I told Barry to try and get a photo if he could. To which, she said, "Mum, please... No...." I said, but don't you want to be able to look back on this one day, tell your kids about your experience? To which she replied: "Mum, I don't want to look back and remember any of this. In fact, I'm open to a hit to the head so I can forget about the whole thing."

She makes me laugh. She's even funny when she's not trying to be. She's coping with the way the last year has played out. But is as ready to be finished with it, as everyone else.

Moving on, here's week 11 of my project life album.

  • I've been leaving a bit early to pick Mad up from school, and walking the pathways near downtown.
  • Delighted with my latest purchase, a string of pearls plant.
  • Can you believe Disneyland has been closed for over a year? I can't actually get my head wrapped around that fact.
  • Mason and Libs, enjoying some morning sun.
  • Some side eye from our sweet little dog.

PL2021 - Week 10 | Sahlin Studio

Week 10 of my project life album, is using templates.

Templates and quick pages happen to be the featured product on the Sahlin Studio website. All are on sale, for 40% off, through the entire month of April. There are soon many to choose from, go to this link here, and see for yourself. This is a fantastic deal!!

I chose Photo Journal No.3 templates and stamps, to use on this page.

I like that this allows me to journal directly onto the photo. I also love the simplicity that these templates offer. I didn't even add any other embellishments to this page. I let the templates do all the talking.

  • This is what parent teacher interviews look like [still] during a pandemic.
  • Madelyn met some friends at Peter's for a milkshake.
  • My Dad, who has worked tirelessly, refinishing our kitchen cupboards. Such a big messy job.
  • Enjoying a morning coffee outside.
  • Patio bevies with our friends. First time we've seen them in person, since August.
  • A trip to Ikea ended up being a family affair. And a fun one at that.

April Template Freebie | Sahlin Studio

The start of a new month, means that Sahlin Studio is releasing a new template freebie.

Here's this months free template, you can download it here

Well people, we're a year into this pandemic.

I still can't quite believe it.

Last year, when we first went into lockdown, and we were home, ALL THE TIME, we created a music playlist. All four of us picked out about 15 of our favourite songs, and then they were all amalgamated. Over the past year, we have listened to this playlist a lot. We listened to it while we played games.  We listened to it when we sat out on the patio. We listened to it when we played darts and foosball in the basement. Some of these songs will bring me back to our time together.

I thought a really cool idea, would be to document the playlist we listened to so much. The one we ended up calling, wait for it... Corona-Time...

I wasn't sure exactly how to do it. At first I thought I could just list the song and the artist. But that seemed a little bit boring. In the end, I went through our list, took a screen shot of each songs [album cover] and then, took screen shots of my camera roll.

It worked out really well, and here's what I came up with, using this months template freebie.

In amongst all the uncertainty that the coronavirus brought us, there were some really great moments as well.

For one, I will always be grateful for the time together we spent as a family. The game nights, tv show binging, putting together puzzles, pub night in the basement, movie marathons and hanging out on our patio under our bug lights.

The pandemic came at a time, when let's face it, teenage kids, would rather be hanging out with friends, than with Mum and Dad. We were forced to be together, and to be honest, it was a time that I will always cherish.

Having said that, we are now one year in. Variant numbers are rising shockingly fast, a number of places in Ontario are back on lockdown. This is our second Easter weekend as a foursome. Last year I wouldn't have believed it was possible. To miss easter, thanksgiving, Christmas and then easter again with family.

I certainly hope I'm not saying the same thing next year.

Our days are getting longer. Some days feel as though they're getting warmer, until the arctic wind starts to blow that is.

We've had some CRAZY windy days recently. The kind of wind that is a bit hard to take.

But we always know spring is upon us, when little miss wants to sit outside in the sun.

Patio furniture is not out quite yet, but she's relentless in her quest for sitting in the sun.

I created this layout using Sahin Designs newly released product.

Spring is such a hopeful time. The birds are busy and plentiful. It's so nice to hear the chirps after a long cold winter.

Looking forward to the warm and sunny days to come.
