PL2022 - December | Sahlin Studio

Finally, the last pages of my 2022 project life album.

A very quick look at our December. I document December in much greater detail in my December Daily album [which sadly... is not completed yet] so this is just a snippet, kind of a highlight from each week. 

• Will never tire of sitting at the kitchen table with my coffee, while the morning sun streams in. 
• All 4 of us went as saw Violent Night, it was dark and indeed violent. 
• Denny's Christmas Adam dinner with friends.
• Little dog sunning herself in the family room. 
• Holiday festivities with friends, finally getting back to normal again. 
• Christmas Eve festivities with family which is also returning to 'normal'.
• An Xmas gift for the kids tickets to see Chilliwack & Honeymoon Suite Dec 30th . LOVE sharing this with them. 
• A quiet New Year's Eve at home with my sweetie.

PL2022 - Week 48 | Sahlin Studio

Okay, I did it. I'm finally caught up to December...

The remainder of my month is going to be a two page spread, hopefully tying all the main December things together.

I'm doing it that way, because I also have my December Daily album, which I'm more than half way through putting it together. I have all the photos printed. I still have to embellish and do some journalling.  My goal was to get it done and shelved by the end of January. I still have a few days left to do that, so it just might happen...

Here is week 48 of my project life album. There were a lot of colour contrasts, so I changed almost all the photos to black and white, so it looks a bit more cohesive. 

 

• Watching a performance of A Christmas Story, a mainstage show put on by the drama society.

Trying to catch up the remaining weeks for 2022.

• Did Mad go out trick or treating wearing a wolf mask? Yes. Yes indeed. But what a haul...
• Artist problems. 
• Halloween was a mild night, we got more trick or treaters than we have ever had. We just about ran out of candy. And the next day it snowed...
• Date night to see Jesus Christ Superstar.
• Love this photo.

PL2022 - Week 43 | Sahlin Studio

We're nearing the end of 2022.

Here is week 43 of my project life album.

• Furnace issues, thankful it wasn't too cold [the too cold furnace problems acted up last week, when our average overnight low temps were in the the -40 degree celsius range]
• Love watching this kid play hockey.
• Jack-o-lanterns.
• Sweet little dog with a fresh cut.
• Another halloween costume under our belts...

PL2022 - Weeks 41 & 42 | Sahlin Studio

Weeks 41 and 42 of October are combined. 

I still can't get over what an amazing fall we had this year.

We enjoyed short sleeved t-shirts until almost the end of October. Unheard of in our parts. It cooled down as soon as the sun set. And the days were noticeably shorter, but it was lovely just the same. 

• Crunchy leaves under my feet. A fall favourite. 
• Little dog sunning herself on the back patio. She's a sun worshipper.
• Candlelight concert with Barry, such a memorable evening. 
• Chores in Cochrane.
• And hello snow... This is more like the 'fall' we're used to in Calgary.

Here is week 40 of my project life ablum. 

• Enjoying every second this fall. Can't believe I'm wearing a short sleeved t-shirt up to meet the bus. 
• Glad to be watching another season of this kid on the ice. 
• Backyard clean up. 
• Barry and I went and saw Styx. It was a very fun evening. 
• Mad got the house decorated for Halloween this weekend.

• Flex Ringette started up again and I'm so glad she decided to play again. 
• Annual Lefsa making at my sister-in-laws.
• The 12' Home Depot skeleton was back this year. 
• Can't believe we're sitting out on a patio in October. Yes please.

Often times when you take photos inside, they end up with a weird yellowy haze. Changing them into black and white photos works like a charm. 

• Madelyn has been given Grandma's china, so we went over and documented it and packed it away.
• Peter's run for milkshakes!
• Celebrating Barry's birthday.
• Celebrating our summer like weather in mid-September.
• Keeping an eye on the news as hurricane Fiona hits the east coast.

PL2022 - Week 36 | Sahlin Studio

Week 36 of my project life ablum. 

• Barry and I went to see Come From Away. It was so, so good. As soon as it was over I wanted to see it again. 
• Dropping Mad off at camp. 
• Sadly, we lost the Queen this week. I know she wasn't going to live forever, but so far, she has. So it did come as a shock. 
• Club recruiting at school. So proud of this kid.

PL2022 - Weeks 34 & 35 | Sahlin Studio

Here are combined weeks 34 & 35 of my project life album. 

These hot days are gone now. We woke up to an impressive dump of snow Saturday morning. The boys both came down with head colds on Tuesday. Literally they both woke up feeling crummy.  And late Tuesday night, the furnace quite working. The earliest someone can come out is Friday. Yikes. And this morning, the thermostat was showing 14.5 degrees Celcious when we got up. [57.2 degrees Fahrenheit] So we're making due. We are are all inside bundled up. Even the poor dog is wearing her sweater.

I'm super thankful it's not subzero temps outside. Eagerly waiting for the furnace to be fixed. 

• At the end of August, we were still experiencing super hot days.
• Coopers Hawk at Dad's house.
• Pickles with Chris.
• Family gathering with Barry's side of the family. 
• Madelyn's back to school photo shoot.

PL2022 - Week 33 | Sahlin Studio

The photos for this week all had the weirdest colours.  I decided to change all but one set  of photos to black and white, so they would't all clash. In doing so, it makes the page so much more cohesive.  I think it makes it look much sleeker.

• Miss Libby getting groomed. We got a quick, somewhat blurry snapshot of her during her last grooming session. She literally needs to be dragged in the door. She hates it. 
• Mid- August and getting in eye and dentist appointments before school starts back up again. 
• Baba's car got hit in a parking lot. Thankfully he was okay, just the hassle now of dealing with insurance. 
• Axe throwing with close friends. We had so many laughs. Such a fun afternoon.

PL2022 - Weeks 31 & 32 | Sahlin Studio

We did have a hot summer. However, this year, we also got summer storms along with the heat. Not too many, just enough to break up the super hot days.  After blue skies and high temperatures, we woke up one morning to dark and gloomy. When the unpleasant days are sprinkled in here and there, it makes it okay. 

I combined weeks 31 and 32 for this page. I just didn't have enough photos for the two weeks. 

• Morning snuggles are everyone's favourite. 
• Dark and gloomy and a bit of reprise from the heat.
• Celebrating Dad's big birthday.
• Unexpected ice cream date.

PL2022 - Week 30 | Sahlin Studio

Here is week 30 of my project life album. We were still on our little vaycay. Love that we got to spend this meaningful time together as a family. We made it the whole week without anyone being crabby or moody. Quite a feat considering we were 4 adult-sized people, sharing a hotel room. 

• Moody morning on the coast. We drank coffee and enjoyed this view. 
• Empress Hotel in the background in Victoria.
• Enjoying the beach.
• We witnessed the most amazing double rainbow when we got home. Fabulous.
• After a few days home, we needed a water fix. Took Miss Libby with us down to the river.

PL2022 - Week 29 | Sahlin Studio

Here's the very photo heavy page of week 29 in my project life album. 

We kicked the week off by seeing Thor: Love and Thunder in the theatres, then, a few days later we headed to the west coast for a little family get away. It was a super early morning, we were through security at the airport just after 5 am. 

• We're all caught up with our Marvel movies.
• View from the sky. Our first trip in over 2 years. Did it feel weird to be on a plane with a bunch of people, yes. But we were so ready to do so.
• Photos of the mammoth at the museum. I still remember this display as a child.
• On the beach, with my people. We hit all the beaches. It was awesome.

PL2022 - Week 28 | Sahlin Studio

Week 28 was particularly exciting because we finally got to see Hamilton. We gave Madelyn tickets for the broadway show on her 15th birthday. During Covid. This night was two years in the making and I have to say, it did not disappoint one bit.

We were loving every moment of our summer temps. 

Currently the leaves are beginning to change colour and the mornings are frosty. Not looking forward to winter. Glad I  have more summer pages in the que to look back on. 

• Very disappointed to see this guy leave the Calgary Flames. 
• Hamilton. Enough said. 
• A rare sighting of the young man that lives with us. 
• A dog who adores drinking from the hose.
• Creepy clouds and a face painting.

PL2022 - Week 27 | Sahlin Studio

Back to week 27 of my project life album and to weird and wacky weather...

We've had another hot summer. However, unlike last year, this year we got a lot of storms and rain. It certainly helped everything stay lush and green. 

There's something very unsettling about watching the news, seeing your area of town on the newscast and having there be a tornado warning put in place...

What is most mind boggling, is that we had a huge storm, a tornado warning, and then the skies cleared and it was gorgeous for the reminder of the evening.  In fact, at the last minute, we decided to head down to the stampede grounds to hit sneak a peak. I'm so, so glad we did. It was not very busy at all, and we never have to go back again! 

We did gorge on mini donuts [of course] and enjoy overpriced lemonade.  We decided to forgo the Kraft Dinner flavoured ice cream...

Thankful to spend time with this little family of mine. 

• Storm warning.
• Sneak-a-peak, and the most beautiful evening.
• Summer veggie pizza that only Barry and I enjoy [lucky us]
• Watching a rugby game with the most mosquitos I've seen in a long time...

• We had so much rain this spring and summer. Definitely welcome by keeping things nice and green.

PL2022 - Week 24 | Sahlin Studio

Oof.... This was week was a hard one. 

It was the week of my Sweet Mum's birthday. And I have to say, I missed her more than I thought possible. 

As I'm typing this out, it's been 9 1/2 months since losing her, and I still feel lost... It's not quite as raw as it was after first losing her.  But it still feels like all the air is being squeezed from my lungs. I absolutely hate my new normal. 

I did blur out my journaling about the day. It's pretty personal and close to the heart. 

• Mum's birthday was a hard one. 
• Mad made her delicious Lofthouse Cookies for a drama potluck.
• A reptile now lives in my home... 
• Father's Day.
• The longer days mean warm, sunshine and summertime.

PL2022 - Week 23 | Sahlin Studio

Week 23 of my album takes us back to the beginning of summer. 

Oh how I love June... The longer days. The golden sun. Summer laid out before us. 

• Corona Sunrise, an adult bevvie inspired by tik tok. [It didn't disappoint]
• Miss Libby, happiest surveying her front yard.
• 2nd year in a row I participated in Workshop Week. I love that it gets my creative juices flowing. I just wish they'd stay that way. 
• Madelyn came home after school one day after dying her hair blue... There were tears [mine] She promised me it would wash out after 6-8 washes... 😂 It's now mid-August, and still a grey-ish/blue-ish/brown-ish colour. [She did admit she thought it would actually wash out] I knew better, hence the tears. 
• Our completed privacy screen. [It fell over in a storm a week after completion, so had to be slightly revamped]
