PL2023 - Weeks 15 & 16 | Sahlin Studio

I combined weeks 15 and 16 this week. 

We're at the time of year where everything is brown and dirty looking. The majority of the snow melted [only to fall once more] and nothing is coming up out of the ground yet. 

This is the time of year it's especially hard to see people post photos of blooming fruit trees, tulips, daffodils. Even the crocus. But as the days grow longer, we at least know it's coming. 

• Libby watching a jack rabbit in the next yard. 
• Mad finishing off her orientation shift.
• It's snowing again. 
• Trying to come up with a way to make our patio more private. 
• Still enjoying our  weekly 55 minute date night at the pub.

PL2023 - Week 14 | Sahlin Studio

I used fun pops of colour to document week 14. 

It was such a treat to see a bunch of blooms at Golden Acres. Feeling hopeful as spring approaches. 

• When it's still chilly outside but the snow is beginning to melt a trip to the garden centre does wonders for the soul. 
• We saw Pretty Woman. The first show of the new Broadway Across Canada season. The main characters had amazing voices. I was curious how this story would become a musical.  I forgot how sexual this story was, which is funny. After all, the premise of the story is, Edward picks up a hooker to be his fake girlfriend for the week he's in town...
• Making a mega stuff oreo cookie epic. 
• Date nights, just the 2 of us, are getting more common again.

Guest Pollywog Team - February - April 2023 | The-Lilypad

I'm finally sitting down to blog about my guest spot at the-lilypad. I was lucky enough to be asked to be a guest on the Pollywog Team, February through April. 

To say my first few weeks onboard were overwhelming, is an understatement. 

But once I got comfortable with the workload, I had an absolute blast with it.

There are things happening at the-lilypad every week. Every Wednesday is SOSN [something old, something new] A designer chooses one [or multiple] product/s from their collection that can be picked up for 50% off it's regular price!

Friday is new release day. Designers release new product which is typically discounted 20% off through the weekend. 

The first Friday of every month is BYOC [Bring your own computer] Mix and match products which  allow you to build your own kit.

In 3 months, I created 52 different layouts to showcase and highlight the work of different digital designers. All of my layouts can be found in the-lilypad gallery here. I didn't blog about them, because with multiple layouts a week, it would have been too labour intensive. 

But here's a super quick look at the layouts I created: 

I have nothing but accolades for all of the designers at the-lilypad. Such an amazing group of individuals that have tireless energy and creative ideas. It was such a super experience. 

I had so much fun going back over older photos [especially the ones where the kids were little] and scrapbooking them. My goals is to create a digital book with all the layouts I created.

It's never too late to do your memory keeping and story telling.

PL2023 - Week 13 | Sahlin Studio

The end of March and April ended up being quite busy months for me. I got a job!! After losing my mum in November of 2021, I spent a lot of time the year that followed, alone and in my head.  I don't think it was best for my mental state. So I found myself a part time job. I haven't worked for a long time, and I felt ready for something.  I already know I'm going to enjoy it, and the fact that I worked for 7 weeks and basically have the rest of the summer off is a bonus. 

Here's week 13 of my project life album.

• Good walking shoes for work are a must. I will likely get another pair too. 
• A quick shot of where I'm spending some time at work. 
• Nitty Gritty Dirt band with my brother. A great concert at the Jubilee.
• Yard work at Grandma & Grandpa's. Barry and the kids were outside working, I was inside visiting, while they watched the work taking place. Love it.
