Winter where I live is hard. [Alternatively, the summer is dreamy. It's a perfect mix of good and bad.] 

The days get increasingly shorter as we head into December. The temperatures drop. Windchill comes into play making cold conditions even more frigid. Not every day is awful. We have our fair share of  clear bright sunny days, although Baby, it's cold outside... 

When it snows, it snows. Usually accompanied with the wind [hence the windchill] drifting huge piles of snow all over. Making removal, driving, and sometimes even getting doors open, a challenge. 

We were issued a heavy snowfall warning the day after Halloween. So we're now accustomed to warming up cars,  scraping windows, shovelling sidewalks and dressing in multiple layers before leaving the house. 

Somehow, decorating for Christmas makes this cold, dark time of the year easier.  Here's a non-photo layout I created using the Evergreen Collection, and one of the recently released December Memories templates, just kind of documenting my feelings. 

I love how this turned out. 

How you live your life is really so much about attitude. 

[Having said that, don't even get me started about January and February... Those are a couple of long hard months]

We also got our tree up and decorated this past week. So I created another quick layout using the December Memories templates. [There are so many to choose from and makes creating pages so quick!]

Last week I hauled my crew out to get family photos taken. I like to have photos that are up to date, and the last time we had family pictures done was back in 2020.

It was a cold brisk morning, and we got these shots done in record time. I'll be using some of these photos for this years Christmas cards. In fact, the cards have already been submitted. Now, just waiting to get them back to so I can address and send them off. 

I love sending cards and I love getting them. Sadly, not a lot of people seem to fee this way. Christmas cards seem to dwindle each year. I especially love photo cards, to get a glimpse of the people you don't see very often. So here's a sneak peek of the 4 of us:

PL2022 - Weeks 37 & 38 | Sahlin Studio

Here are combined weeks 37 & 38 of my project life album.

Often times when you take photos inside, they end up with a weird yellowy haze. Changing them into black and white photos works like a charm. 

• Madelyn has been given Grandma's china, so we went over and documented it and packed it away.
• Peter's run for milkshakes!
• Celebrating Barry's birthday.
• Celebrating our summer like weather in mid-September.
• Keeping an eye on the news as hurricane Fiona hits the east coast.

December Memories | Designed by Soco

We're nearly midway through November, and for those of you who participate in any kind of memory keeping through December, you are maybe beginning to think about foundation pages.

I have done December Daily albums for quite a few years now. I bounce back and forth between using physical paper & elements to doing pages strictly digitally. 

As soon as I saw these clean, sleek simple templates, I was excited.  This year I will use a combination of physical papers, journal cards and embellishment with some simple, super fast and easy to put together digital pages. It will round the album out so nicely. 

There might even be a time in the future, that I'll do my album completely in digital form. Then I can sent the pages off and have a digital book made.

PL2022 - Week 36 | Sahlin Studio

Week 36 of my project life ablum. 

• Barry and I went to see Come From Away. It was so, so good. As soon as it was over I wanted to see it again. 
• Dropping Mad off at camp. 
• Sadly, we lost the Queen this week. I know she wasn't going to live forever, but so far, she has. So it did come as a shock. 
• Club recruiting at school. So proud of this kid.

After the nicest fall I can remember in a very long time, winter came in roaring. November 1st, we were under a snowfall warning. And let's just say, the weather forecast was not wrong. Sadly. Luckily, I got most of our outside decor put away, before the real heavy snow started to fall. I left the jack-o-lanterns on the step [green bin day is not until next week] and before long, they were looking pretty snowy.

We certainly do get all 4 seasons here, sometimes we even get them all in one day.

November 2022 Template Freebie | Sahlin Studio

Happy November. 

We've officially transitioned from fall to winter.  As I type this, the city is under a heavy snowfall warning. 

Yippee... Not. 

At least we got a mild evening for Halloween. A definite bonus considering where we live.

I'm a pretty private person by nature. And yes, I see the irony in that when I have so many layouts posted on the internet.

But this past year, has been the hardest of my life. 

It's coming up on the year anniversary of losing my Mum, and honestly, it's just as hard to wrap my head around it now, as it was then. 

I used the Remember Me kit to create this pocket page, about my missing her.  I couldn't be more thankful about all the great photos I have of her and I together. We have had some great adventures over the years. 

Take photos of your loved ones people. I have been teased hard over the years.  People groan and roll their eyes at me when the camera comes out and I start to take photos. But... 

 I'm so very thankful for all the photos I have to cherish.
