PL2020 - Week 35 | Sahlin Studio

We have had the most amazing fall. Last year a this time, we broke a record for the amount of snowfall. The leaves have slowly changed over the last month. Leaves are just now dropping off the trees.

I have felt so fortunate to be able to spend time outside, enjoying each gorgeous day. We all know that winter is around the corner. We also know this winter brings a lot of uncertainty with it.

Still taking things one day at a time.

Week 35 fell on our last camping trip of the season. We tried a new place, near Settler, AB on Buffalo Lake. Our site was waterfront, which made for amazing views. The weather was good, we did have a few mini storms blow through. We saw lightning, actually quite a lot of it. Though it skirted around us, we didn't get much rain at all.

We saw the stars.

Ah-mazing.

  • Unobstructed view of the water.
  • Mad was also delighted to have water access.
  • She's also become an incredible fire starter, using flint and steel.
  • Mason was able to come, which was awesome.
  • The sunset this night, after a mini storm, unbelievable.
  • Barry rented a sheet of ice, the new Covid rules are gross.

September Template Release | Sahin Designs

Sahin Designs just released September templates, this one is another set of two, which makes my heart soar. I just love options.

Template #1

Template #2

These templates are available now, and currently 20% off.

These templates are vacation themed. It's no surprise that any and most vacation plans for 2020 have been put on hold this year due to Covid. [We're sick of you Covid]

So, I did the next best thing I could think of. I went back to last years vacation photos, told a few more stories in a little bit more depth.

I hauled my big camera around on our two week trip. But I hardly used it. Which is disappointing to say the least. I intended to use it. But it's big and awkward and heavy. So all these photos were taken on my iPhone. I'm so thankful that the quality of the iPhones just keeps getting better. So fun.

Here are my layouts:

Tourist | Sahin Designs

For Sahin Designs September's Creative gallery, I chose to work with the Tourist Collection.

This summer has been tough.

We had nowhere to go. I mean, we planned a few camping trips and they were fun. But we had nothing to really look forward to. It made me reminisce about last years road trip.

Seriously, I'm soooooo glad we decided to do that trip last year.

We did a LOT of driving. 6000 km in fact. We encountered so many different landscapes. Our little foursome adores the ocean, being sea side. But Utah was pretty impressive.

We spent very little time there. One night at Bryce Canyon. All it did was get us interested. There is so much to see and do in Utah. So many canyons and national parks. It is for sure one place we'd like to go back to and spend more time.

Hopefully sooner than later...

PL2020 - Weeks 33 & 34

Here is another layout that I combined weeks.

Let's be honest, 2020 has been weird. We have kept low key this summer, with nothing but a few camping trips. We were homebound.

Which isn't the worst thing in the world. But having things to look forward to, is part of life. I'm missing that right now.

  • Summer is a time for barefoot. Which I did a LOT of this year.
  • Madelyn out in the rain, which was warm. Not our usual arctic feeling rain.
  • Mason and a friend made a road trip to visit a friend.
  • Libby, loves to be outside with us.
  • View from the golf course. It was our first time eating out, since Mason's birthday. The cook even came to ensure our meals were okay...
  • Mad and I slept in the tent one night. It was so hot.

Untold Stories Collection | Sahin Designs

The newest release from Sahin Design is called Untold Stories.

It's available through Sunday September 20th for 20% off. Newsletter subscribers, watch your inbox for the chance to pick this collection up for 50% off.

When purchasing the collection bundle through September 20th, you'll get the Untold Stories Word Art collection included, it's a free gift with purchase!

I had a really hard time choosing what story to tell with this collection. We all have hard stories to tell. And they're not all good ones. There are stories of heartbreak, grief, loss.  Sometimes it's hart to put those stories into words.

Everyone handles hard times differently, but it doesn't mean those stories shouldn't be told.

Here's what I created using this collection.

I miss this lady every day.

I'm so glad that she has a special place to be celebrated, documents and remembered in my stories.

PL2020 - Week 32 | Sahlin Studio

This week is going back to week 32, the beginning of August. Man we had some weird weather this year. I happened to be home alone when these clouds were building to the north of us. We've had 2 tornado alerts this year, so when the sky starts to look like this, I do feel a bit on edge.

Thankfully they skirted past the city.

Week 32 was a week of celebration:

  • Crazy clouds.
  • Mason and Emelin at their small grad celebration.
  • Masking up, every where we go. Getting more used to it now.
  • The grad celebration was done so well. Loved the table decorations. And that our boy posed with us for a photo or two.
  • A few more meme's that make me laugh, every time I see them. Also, words to remember that never felt quite so true as they do now, 6 months after the fact.
  • Celebrating Dad's birthday.

Notes from the Road Collection | Sahin Designs

Notes from the Road is the latest collection from Sahin Designs.

You guys, this is a swoon-worthy collection. The moment I saw it, I loved it.

Notes from the Road Digital Scrapbook Collection - Sahin Designs

It's on sale now through Sunday [September 6th]  for 20% off. If you're a newsletter subscriber, watch your inbox for a 50% off coupon.

We had our last camping trip of the season a week ago.

We have tried several new campgrounds this season, due to the fact, that vacancies were not easy to come by. We looked at a map and decided we'd be willing to travel for up to 2 1/2 hours. It turned out, this was more of a 3 hour drive, but we got to experience some highways we've never seen, country we've never driven across, and even a few towns and hamlets.

Here's the layout I created using the Notes from the Road Collection:

This collection seems very versatile, and I can see using it a ton. In fact, I am almost excited to see some leaves falling from the trees, so I can create something fall related.

I created this layout as an 8x10 size, and love how I have elements and photos coming right to the edge of the page.

Very pleased with this layout. I already know it's going to be one of my favourites.

PL2020 - Week 31 | Sahlin Studio

On week 31 we were camping near Pincher Creek. The weather was crazy H O T... We had a great time, we were so thankful that we'd brought along our sunshade, it ended up saving us during the day, we spent a ton of time under it, playing Mason's Risk game. We all breathed a sigh of relief after 9 pm, when the sun finally went behind a hill and the temperature cooled off a smidge.

It was another campground we had never been to before. I'm pretty sure we'd all vote to go back again. The major bonus, it wasn't too far from Pincher Creek, and so a slurpee run wasn't off the table.

There were a ton of birds, which was awesome. I have to remember to bring out bird book camping with us. We spotted lots of finches, and what I'm pretty sure was an Amercian Goldfinch. We also got serenaded one night, by a group of whooooo-ing owls. It was pretty cool.

For this week I used Pause Kit from Sahlin Studio, this kit also happens to be the featured product of September. On sale for 40% off throughout the entire month.

I thought it landed itself perfectly to document this week.

  • A look at our site, and sunshade, and of course, Barry's amazing fire.
  • My little family... My whole heart.
  • A photo of the graduates, from our weekend photoshoot.
  • Masks. Our new normal.
