PL2018 - Week 19

This was the same week that I went along with Ali Edwards A Week in the Life

I finally spent some time sorting through the photos I wanted to add to this album. I picked the pictures up last week, but I'm a long way away from putting everything together.

The approach I have for this album, is to use what I have...

I always look forward to Week in the Life and December Daily, because it's a little more 'hands on' than my digital pages. I'm eager to sort through paper and stamps, to get the creative juices flowing.

With summer upon us [Mad's last day of school is actually today!!] I will have some time that I can work well into the evenings on my projects. It's such a sense of accomplishment to have things completed.

Here is a glimpse into the week, with my project life page:

  • Miss Libby in her chair in our room.
  • Shot from Barry from the golf course. So love that he knows I'm down this, and takes photos to share with me.
  • The boys and the girls. Mason and Barry at Chapters. Madelyn and I after a school bus pickup.
  • Silly, brave, trusting little dog.
  • A photo of my favourite kids on Mother's Day.
I really like the colour pallet of the kit I used, but there were so many competing colours in the other photos, that I changed all the pictures to black and white so there was a bit of continuity.

PL2018 - Week 18

Week 18 takes us back to the week of Miss Madelyn's 13th birthday. It's really hard to get my head around this, but my baby is now a teenager.

The weather was also starting to get pretty decent. It's already hard to imagine that we had a tough long winter. I guess that's for a reason... Otherwise, I suspect most of Canada would be deserted...

Here is week 18:

  • Our girl turned 13...  I now have two teenagers. Eeks. I just can't believe it. She got a 'donut' cake before school, her breakfast request was french toast. We celebrated with a carrot cake a few days later, so Mason was able to join us.
  • I surprised Mad after school and took her for her first pedicure. I'm pretty sure she thought she'd hate it, and was surprised to enjoy it.
  • Grade 7 field trip to St. Patrick's Island to build fires and cook bannock. [I seemed to be the only one who thought this was kind of a dangerous idea...] I mean come on, 4 open fires and a bunch of 12/13 years olds...
  • Mason can eat these days... This was a double patty burger, that he had no problem finishing.
  • Mad had a couple of friends over to celebrate her bday. We went to the pool, then back to our place for pizza, birthday panookie, movies and a sleep over.

PL2018 - Week 17

Week 17 was when things got real.

Weather-wise that is.

Suddenly the sun showed up, melting all the snow. By the weekend, it was in the high 20's. Inside the house, it was almost unbearable...

C'mon Mother Nature... From snow and cold, to HOT... Give us a chance to acclimatize.  Because I can't even say things like "it's so hot... or I'm too hot". I promised myself, that if warmer weather ever came, I would do no such thing...

But don't be cruel to us. Pretty please. Lets do this warm up thing, nice and slow...  Normal.

Here is a look at week 17:

  • The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge introduced HRH Louis Arthur Charles to the world. Another boy for Will and Kate. I wonder if they'll be done now, or still want to add to their brood...
  • Miss Libby, before and after shots never get old. This time, we didn't do the breed cut, but shaved her right down. She really feels the heat.
  • On our Thursday walk, we were actually able to sit outside while enjoying our coffee!
  • Doing the 30 days of yoga challenge. Reminds me how much I enjoyed doing it. This is something I can see adding back into my life for sure.
  • HOT...
  • Barry made the mistake of giving Libby vanilla ice cream. And then vanilla yogurt. If she sees either container, she makes a beeline for him, and doesn't move until she's rewarded with a taste.
  • First time tinkering in the garden. Looking for growth. Madelyn planted sweet pea and scarlett runner bean seeds, as soon as the snow was gone.

PL2018 - Week 16

Week 16 goes back to April 16th - 22nd. And the snow... That was for real. It's no wonder we thought we'd never see the end of it. It just kept coming and coming.

Of course, now it feels like winter never happened.

Oh Canada... You crack me up with your extreme weather swings.

Today as I post this, June 7th, it's 26 degrees Celsius. Indeed, on days like today, we tend to forget about winter...

Which is a good thing, and likely why we all continue living here...

Here is week 16:

  • We had yet another dump of snow, after yet another 'heavy snowfall warning'. [The weather people have been right almost every time]
  • A few days after the heavy snow, we walked by the river. So much snow had already melted.
  • Fun bunny ears with my girl. Love that she is so much fun and still wants to take silly photos with me.
  • Cake Batter Cookies... Enough said.
  • What saying "Don't touch anything" in a show home looks like with Miss Madelyn.
  • The backyard is still full of snow, but the sun is warmer. We enjoyed coffee on the deck this weekend,  with a cozy hoodie on of course.

June Template Freebie

It's that time again, this months template freebie, from Sahlin Studio is available, through the month of June only. Again, it's the grid-type format. You may have gathered, a grid wins my heart. Every time.  Here's what it looks like:

Right? So many options on this layout. I love it!

Here's what I did with mine:

Ahhhh!! Every time I look at this page I love it. The Royal Wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle was highly anticipated. Since the wedding began at 4:00 am, for us, I taped the event.

I was excited to watch the wedding, but lets face it, a girl needs her sleep.

My husband thought I was crazy, because I kept pausing the wedding, to snap photos. Most of them are photos off my TV, a few were found on-line. I love that I have this layout, to commemorate their marriage. I really wish now, I'd done the same thing for William and Kate a few years ago... I may just have to go back and find photos, and create a wedding montage for them as well.

I'm so, so very happy for these two. I hope their love is able to stand the test of time. And the press. I wish people would leave them alone. I just wish nothing but goodness and happiness for these two.

Another couple to add to this years Christmas card list...

I wish you all the best, Harry and Meghan, and if you need a safe refuge in Calgary, AB, I'm your gal.
